I Want to buy a house?

I started a family and now I want to buy a house, but the problem is that i have bad credit. I really don't know where to start. I know having bad credit it going to be way harder. I do have a co-signer that has really good credit but that's my last choice. So if there anyone out there there that knows about how to even get approved for a loan so i can start the process i would greatly appreciate the help.
