Are we really past the point of no return with (pardon the expression) saving the planet?

we are past the point of no return for avoiding climate change altogether, as it is already happening. however, the level of mitigation and de-carbonisation we achieve over the next decade will make a cruical difference to how great the eventual changes will be. the planet will be ok in the long run, its the current ecosystems, and human civilisation that are at stake.
