What movie did i see i cant remember?

From what i remember it was near the end of the movie and there was an american POW and there was a Japanese soldier holding him as a POW and there was no one else exe pt the 2 men from what i remember but the man that was holding the american hostage wasn't treating him like crap he was actually feeding him and he was kinda being nice to him and then later on in the movie the american escaped and there was like a big war scene and then the american was back with his crew and the man that was keeping the american as POW was shot and the american that was held hostage screamed medic and the 2 men started smiling at each other. But that's all i remember because i haven't seen it in a while.
